Interested in being a member of UGAT?

As per UGAT Constitution and By-laws, interested individuals can become regular members of UGAT.

Regular members are those who:

• Have earned undergraduate and/or graduate degrees in Anthropology, or

• Are deemed acceptable by the Committee on Membership by reason of some special contribution to anthropology, anthropological research or the promotion of anthropological activities; and

• Have paid the membership fee.

UGAT also invites government organizations, non-government organizations, and academic institutions (with or without an anthropology program) to become institutional members. Student organizations are likewise invited to apply. Institutional members are those who:

• organizations and/or institutions that take an interest in and contribute to the attainment of the goals
  of UGAT and are deemed acceptable by the Committee on Membership.

• Any organization and/or institution eligible for and desiring admission to membership shall file a written application with the Committee onMembership.

Membership application is open every last quarter of the year (October-December).

New applicants shall accomplish the new membership form.

Former members (inactive) shall renew their membership by accomplishing the renewal fo

The membership forms can only be accomplished by paying the membership fee (see rates above).

Membership includes a free copy of the Aghamtao journal, which can be claimed during the annual conference. It also entitles a discount on the registration fee for the annual conference,  as well as access to the member's features of UGAT website, as well as access announcements and other research opportunities and invitations. Members can also be nominated by UGAT for the VAM Excellence in Research Award.

 

Members have certain duties to fulfill:

• contribute to the attainment of the goals of UGAT;

• attend annual conferences and business meetings;

• pay the membership fees;

• elect the members of the Board of Directors;

• abide by the Code of Ethics; and,

• perform other duties as the General Assembly may decide for implementation.
